The story begins a long time ago with Tempt Me Tempeh founder Ricardo who grew up in Indonesia.
One of his favourite food was tempeh. Growing up in Indonesia with a wide range of premium foods to choose from, Ricardo’s taste bud became accustomed to a quality tempeh both in taste and design. He also realised that in Indonesia he could get any type of street food on almost any street corner.
As a youngster from the age of 5 he was always helping his mum by preparing meals in the kitchen. Ricardo’s mum is a fantastic cook and would cook many different dishes for lunch or dinner as it is the norm for Indonesian to have many choices of dishes at dinner table. From the age of 7 he started cooking by himself and began using natural ingredients sourced from the environment. So cooking was instilled in him from a young age.
When he emigrated to the UK, he noticed that tempeh was still relatively unknown. He noticed that there was a huge market for fresh organic tempeh in the UK. He also felt that there was a niche in the market for Indonesian street food. Therefore in combining his cooking abilities, passion for tempeh and authentic Indonesian street food, Tempt Me Tempeh was born.
